TV Series  Lost

Lost
Lost  is an American television series that chronicles the adventures of a group of survivors of a plane crash on a mysterious island in the Pacific Ocean. The series combines drama, suspense and adventure. The concept was developed by J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, and Jeffrey Lieber, the first of which went further double pilot episode.

The series is produced by ABC Studios and Bad Robot Productions, and is issued in the U.S. by ABC. His shooting focuses mainly on the island of Oahu in the Hawaiian islands.

It has been a widespread success in countries that have been delivered, arriving to take his first season averaging 16.1 million viewers in the United States, and has become part of rapidly American popular culture ( has been referenced in numerous television shows, comic books, songs, etc.). He has also won numerous awards, including a Golden Globe and six Emmy Awards.

Format of the series

The series consists mostly by episodes of about 42 minutes that often combine action on the island with a series of flashbacks on one of the characters. These flashbacks are usually only involve a character per episode (though sometimes there are cross-references between them), and allow as the series progresses ever known over the life of these characters. The chapters also often contain many riddles, and situations without apparent explanation.

There are several types of flashbacks employees in the series. The most common is one that shows the character's life before taking the plane. But there have also been examples of flashbacks in which we are witnesses of what happened to central character of that chapter hours or days before the current timeline leading this episode (showing us, therefore, moments past but already occurred in the Island). This resource has been used in Lost especially when introducing new characters (like the survivors of the tail of the plane in the second season, or Nikki and Paulo in the third).

From the last chapter of the 3 rd season, began to replace the Flashback by Flashfowards, which consist of moments to future action on the island. Since then, sometimes play with flashbacks and flasforwards within the same chapter.

Argument

The Oceanic Airlines Flight 815, which went from Sydney (Australia) to Los Angeles (USA), crashes on a remote Pacific island. Due to various problems occurred during flight, the plane had to divert its course after it lost communications. This leaves a group of survivors on an island in the middle of nowhere. The Fourth Season shows that the reason they have not had any rescue is that shortly after the crash, a submarine that was looking for remains of sunken ships are found with a false Oceanic 815, so it take for all passengers dead .

After the accident, passengers survivors realize what their situation, and that it is possible that no one will rescue them in the near future. In addition, since very soon begin to observe phenomena strangers on the island, and understand that if they want to survive will have to stay together. The character originally erected in "leader" of this community is Dr. Jack Shephard.

Locke found another station whose content suggests that perhaps the whole issue of introducing the numbers every 108 minutes is just a psychological experiment and does not serve for anything. Meanwhile, Michael reaches a deal with The Others: You must release Henry and a trap to seek their own comrades, and The Others stop marching to his son. He does, and as a result Jack, Kate and Sawyer were captured, and Michael and Walt were given a boat so they can leave the island. Upcoming seasons and the end of the series

On May 7, 2007, the president of ABC Entertainment, Stephen McPherson, announced that "Lost" will end in 2010. "We felt that this was the only way to give an end Lost creative and appropriate" McPherson said. Beginning with the 2008 season, will end 48 episodes of Lost that will be transmitted in three seasons with 16 episodes each. So, Lost will conclude with its sixth season. These seasons are transmitted without interruption during the year.

The notice of the ABC was called "unprecedented" by Lost executive producers, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cusí. Lindelof and Cuse also indicated that "Lost has a beginning, a development and an end." The co-creator J.J. Abrams also praised the decision, commenting that "it is the appropriate option for the series and its viewers. I applaud ABC and Touchstone Television by the decision."

Personality

Connections

The series is littered with various coincidences "casual" that creators have made to the script with supposedly why give rise to viewers to decide which are significant and which are not. These matches include:

     * Casual relations between the characters before the accident. In the flashbacks showing how the lives of some characters intersect with those of others, even if they do not know.

     * Appearances of "Numbers". "The numbers are a number of figures who originally were issued through the radio transmitter in the island. It was this message which led to the issuance of Rousseau to the island. Although she later changed the message, the numbers have been heard by other people, including Hurley, cree that they are cursed. Throughout the series The numbers appear together or separately on many occasions.

     * In the flashbacks of the characters are shown sometimes objects or animals on the island are present, or to turn people who may exist only in his imagination.

The Numbers

     * The combination 4 8 15 16 23 42
     * 4
     * 8
     * On 15
     * On 16
     * On 23
     * 42
     * 108: It was the number of counter in the hatch and also is the summation of the series of previous issues.

     * 815: It is for the number of flight travelling survivors.

The initiative Dharma

The Dharma initiative is a mysterious project with a large presence on the island where they are lost survivors of Oceanic Airlines flight 815. Much of the information about this project is derived from videos of guidelines found at several stations located on the island.

The initiative is assumed that was founded in 1970 by Gerald and Karen DeGroot, doctoral students at the University of Michigan. He or is funded by the Danish industrial tycoon and weapons of Alvar Hanso and his Hanso Foundation. The alleged purpose of the initiative was to create "a compound of large-scale research where scientists and freethinkers around the world devoted to research in meteorology, psychology, parapsychology, zoology, electromagnetism and social utopia."

Ben ended up killing all members of the initiative with a poison gas.

Stations of the Dharma initiative:

     * The Arrow
     * Staff
     * The Swan
     * The Flame
     * La Perla
     * The Hydra
     * The Mirror
     * The Orchid
     * The Tempest

Theories

The complex and cryptic Lost development gives rise to many possible theories to explain the enigma of the series, as in his day happened for example with Twin Peaks. These theories relate not only to answer basic argument on the island and the survivors, but all the details unanswered it accumulates with the passage of the chapters. The creators claim that the various riddles have an explanation and that eventually this will be shown later in the course of the series.

Theories rejected

So far, the creators of the series have publicly rejected the following possibilities:

     * J.J. Abrams has denied that the "survivors" were in fact dead or in purgatory.
     * Damon Lindelof rejected that survivors had made or were to undertake a journey through time (albeit from the fourth season, travel "space-time" occur sometimes supplied by the station "The Orchid") and like any theory related to the intervention of spaceships or alien.
     * Damon Lindelof has also ruled that everything happened so far has taken place in the minds of some character.
     * Carlton Cusa, in turn, has ruled out the theory that the island is a television set and the only survivors of involuntary participants of a television program (as happened for example in the movie The Truman Show).

The creators have also stated that the argument of the series is nothing that could not happen on a novel by Michael Crichton.
