James Hugh Calum Laurie, OBE, (* 11 June, 1959 in Oxford) is a British actor, writer and musician.

Biography

Laurie grew up in Oxford. After completing his schooling at Eton College, he participated in the University of Cambridge studying at Selwyn College (degree in anthropology). During his studies he joined the Cambridge Footlights, a theater of the university, which has for many British actor and entertainer the starting point for a successful career represented. From 1980 to 1981 Laurie headed the group.
