Ana Ivanović (Cyrillic Ана Ивановић * November 6, 1987 in Belgrade) is a Serbian professional tennis player. She is the current number 1 of the tennis world rankings.
2005
Ana Ivanović surprised with the victory in the finale of Canberra, Australia against Melinda Czink. They convinced with further victories against Svetlana Kuznetsova, Nadia Petrowa, Vera Swonarjowa, all players of the Top 10 The French Open winner against Amélie Mauresmo before they lost against Nadia Petrowa. During the year, she reached the semi-finals of Zurich and Linz, despite minor injuries. She finished the year on the 16th Place in the WTA rankings.
2006 - At the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the year failed Ivanović in the second round of the Australian double specialist Samantha Stosur with 3:6 5:7. In May she came at the French Open to the third round, where they Russian

At Wimbledon she met in the quarter-final on the number 1 in the world and the eventual champion Amélie Mauresmo against whom they lost 3:6 4:6. At the preparatory tournament in Montreal in the U.S. Open Ivanović secured the second tournament victory of her career with 6:2 6:3 against Martina Hingis, the former number 9 in the world. This victory made Ivanović to Geheimfavoritin at the U.S. Open, but she lost in the third round against Serena Williams Lokalmatadorin with 2:6 and 4:6. After the U.S. Open, she could not hold their shape and failed at the tournaments in Bali and Luxembourg each in the first round. After a nearly four-week break failed in Linz after a very good performance in the quarter-finals at the U.S. Open and later won the tournament, Maria Scharapowa, 7:6 7:5. Ivanović concluded the year as number 14 in the world rankings with 1053 points.
In 2007 succeeded Ivanović success through a tournament victory in Berlin against Svetlana Kuznetsova. At the French Open, she reached the semi-finals after beating Maria Scharapowa (6:2 6:1) for the first time a Grand Slam final. It lost, however, clearly marked with 1:6 and 2:6 against Justine Henin. In the semi-finals at Wimbledon she met on the US-American woman Venus Williams and lost with 2:6 and 4:6.
In August the Serbian won the WTA tournament in Los Angeles and moved to the world rankings in order to rank 4. At the U.S. Open failed Ivanović in the fourth round again Venus Williams with 4:6 and 2:6.
Beginning of the year reached Ivanović for the first time the finals of the Australian Open, but then lost against Maria Scharapowa in two sentences. By reaching the final round drew in the world rankings to second place. The Dubai Tennis Championships in March made it to the quarter-finals, but was subject Jelena Dementjewa. In Indian Wells, she won her biggest title to date in the finals against the world rankings-third Svetlana Kuznetsova. Somewhat surprisingly resigned a week later in Miami in the third round against former world rankings First-Lindsay Davenport with 4:6 2:6. With their victory against Jelena Janković (6-4, 3-6, 6-4) on 5 June in the semi-finals of the French Open and moving into the finals over on 9 June 2008 the leadership in the world ranking. This makes it to the second Monika Seleš Serbin, the first place in women's tennis reached. On 7 June she won her first Grand Slam title at the French Open. Shortly afterwards however, they failed at Wimbledon in the third round with 1:6 4:6 at the Chinese Zheng Jie. Also following the WTA tournament in Montreal failed with a handicap on the right thumb in the third round. The violation on the thumb has also finally led them on 10 August 2008 - one day before their planned first-round match - their participation in denOlympischen Summer Games in 2008 had to cancel before then, finally, on 11 August 2008 the world ranking top position in their country's wife Jelena Janković had abgeben.
