Alanna Ubach Biography
Alanna Noëlle Ubach (born October 3, 1975) is an American actress.
Ubach (pronounced You-bock) was born in Downey, California, the daughter of Sidna and Rodolfo Ubach and the sister of actress Athena Ubach.She is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent.
Ubach began her career at the age of four, playing alongside Henry Darrow in a small independent film, "Los Alvarez". At 17, she made a guest appearance on the television series The Torkelsons. She continued with television guest appearances and also appeared in the supporting cast of the film Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. In 1993, she became co-star of the children's television program Beakman's World and also played the role as Gloria in the movie Airborne. One of her first roles in a feature film was that of lesbian Noreen in the film The Brady Bunch Movie.
Since then, she has appeared in a multi-episode 1996 guest spot on the show Party of Five, a performance in the independent film Clockwatchers, and has guest starred in over 25 television shows and a number of independent pictures. In mainstream film, she has played Serena, best friend to Elle Woods in the film Legally Blonde, and the 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde. By 2004, she appeared in over 46 films, including Meet the Fockers as Isabel and Waiting.... She wrote and directed "A Mi Amor Mi Dulce," a short that showed in numerous festivals around the world.
Alanna Ubach plays “Josie,” Beakman’s very first lab assistant. She hails from Downey, California, and was described as "an actress to keep your eye on" by The New York Times and "one to watch," by USA Today. Recently, she co-starred in Lion’s Gate’s comedy, Waiting, as “Naomi,” a memorably steamed waitress. She played Ben Stiller’s hilarious first love, “Isabel,” in the hit comedy, Meet the Fockers. In 2004, Alanna reprised her role as “Serena” in Legally Blonde II. She has directed and written two short films, Mi Amor Mi Dolce and The Fart Show, and recently premiered her three-person comedy troupe, Velcro.
Alanna’s distinctive voice is familiar to television cartoon fans. She’s a regular on Teamo Supremo, Ozzie and Drix, Brandy and Mr. Whiskers, Higglytown Heroes, and El Tigre. Other feature film credits include Cannes Film Festival winner Denise Calls Up. She played the ringleader in Freeway, a temp looking for something better in Clockwatchers, and the only female lead alongside David Arquette in Johns. She also performed prominent roles in Just Your Luck, with Vince Vaughn, Layin’ Low, with Jeremy Piven, as well as in Sister Act II, Airborne, Renaissance Man, and The Brady Bunch Movie. TV credits include The West Wing, Monk, House MD, and Sports Night.
Alanna has an extraordinary stage presence, too. For her performance in the powerful World War II drama, Kindertransport, at the prestigious Manhattan Theater Club, she was described by The Village Voice as “a marvelously affecting and unaffected young actress.”
She is the voice of Manny Rivera in Nickelodeon's El Tigre. She is also working on a coffee table book, a one woman show, and a Warner Bros. television pilot with Tom Werner, Eric Gold, and Jimmy Miller.
She is in the Velcro Troupe with Skyler Stone and Zach Johnson. It is a popular sketch troupe with a viral following. Their short film Quentin Tarantino's Little Miss Squirtgun was nominated for Best Movie Spoof at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards.
She is currently working on the new ABC show "Eli Stone", Lewis Black's Comedy Central show "The Root of all Evil", Legs on Sale's Mr. Anvil (director of music video), "Everything Up Close Looks Messy", a one-woman show she has written and will be starring in - (New York, 2008).
